Bentoshield

Bentoshield

Bentoshield is a geosynthetic clay liner (GCL) manufactured by mechanically needling high-swelling-performance sodium bentonite granules between two layers of high-strength geotextiles. When in contact with water, the bentonite swells and forms an impermeable barrier against liquids, water vapor, and gases. One truckload of Bentoshield provides coverage equivalent to approximately 150 truckloads of conventional compacted clay required to achieve the same level of sealing. This results in significant savings in transportation, labor, and installation time on site.

Bentoshield Functions

Once hydrated, BentoShield swells to form an effective hydraulic barrier that is impermeable to liquids, water vapor, and gases. With a thickness of less than one centimeter, it provides superior hydraulic performance compared to meters-thick layers of compacted clay used in landfills.

Leak-proof

The swelling bentonite forms a low-permeability barrier that prevents the passage of liquids and gases.

Protection

Protects the underlying and overlying layers against mechanical damage and environmental impacts.

Reinforcement

The geotextile layers provide additional reinforcement to ground stability.

Separation

Prevents the intermixing of different material layers (e.g., soil and fill materials).

Bentoshield Applications

Why Choose Bentoshield?

Compared to traditional clay liners, Bentoshield provides equivalent performance with a much thinner cross-section, enabling fast and easy installation without the need for special equipment or welding. The self-healing properties of bentonite make Bentoshield a reliable solution for general-purpose waterproofing projects. For chemically aggressive leakage environments, refer to Bentoshield PE, the polymer-modified version of the product.
