Bentoshield PE - Chemical-Resistant Geosynthetic Clay Liner

Bentoshield TH

Bentoshield PE is the polymer-enhanced version of standard Bentoshield. Polymer-modified sodium bentonite granules are mechanically bonded between woven and nonwoven geotextile layers. Standard sodium bentonite can lose swelling capacity - and with it, hydraulic performance - in high-ion-concentration environments such as saline water or heavy-metal-bearing leachate. Polymer modification slows this cation-exchange degradation, preserving long-term impermeability in chemically aggressive conditions.

Bentoshield PE Functions

Once hydrated, BentoShield PE swells to form an effective hydraulic barrier that is impermeable to liquids, water vapor, and gases. Compared to the meters of compacted clay soil used in storage areas, BentoShield PE provides superior hydraulic performance with a thickness of less than one centimeter.

Leak-proof

The swelling bentonite forms a low-permeability barrier that prevents the passage of liquids and gases.

Protection

It provides reliable protection for structures by maintaining low permeability under aggressive chemical conditions.

Reinforcement

Prevents intermixing of adjacent soil or fill layers.

Separation

It prevents intermixing between different materials, maintaining structural stability and long-term performance.

Polymer-modified Geosynthetic Clay Liner (GCL)

Thanks to the polymer-modified sodium bentonite granules in its Bentoshield PE structure, it effectively creates an impermeable layer even in areas with highly hazardous chemical leaks, protecting our soil, our living spaces.
